This version of the pattern features another size and a third moon design.
About the design: Atacama Nights is an oversized intarsia fall/ winter cover up made in one piece and inspired by the Atacama desert at night; its shapes and colors. The silhouette is reminiscent of ponchos and ruanas, so predominant in Latin American cultures. The cover up has a seam on each side and the front opening and neck are reinforced with a crochet band. You can personalize your design by choosing from different moon images or sleeve finishes. The patterns comes with schematics and charts.
Sizing: 3 sizes available for bust sizes: 31.5”- 39.25”/ 80-100 cm (39.25”- 49”/ 100-125 cm, 49”- 59”/125-150 cm)
Construction:
- The piece is worked flat from the bottom hem up the back. Once you reach the neck, the front separates into two panels worked separately.
- I suggest you organize your yarn in bobbins, “butterflies”, or using a yarn box. This will help keep the wrong size of your project neat and untangled.
- Personalize your work by choosing from the moon and sleeve designs available.
- The areas for the moons are suggestions. You can place them wherever you prefer.
- To reinforce the front opening and neck, you will add a band made with an 8 mm crochet hook.
Materials:
Yarn: A chunky or bulky weight yarn for US 11/ 8 mm needles of 7-8 WPI.
Yarn used in pictures: Magnolia 100Grs, by Lanas Orquídea (100% wool, 1 ply, 7-8wpi), 100g/120y in colors: Azul #207, Visón #210, Mostaza #209, Arena #206, Crudo #962, Menta #208
Other materials needed:
- US 11/ 8 mm circular needles with long cable (to accommodate all stitches for your size)
- Size US11/ L / 8mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Safety pin (if you decide to add cuffs)
Gauge:
4”/ 10cm = 10,5 sts x 15,5 rows in stockinette stitch using US 11/ 8 mm needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
10cm = 10 sc stitches x 11 rows with US 11/ 8 mm crochet hook (or size need to obtain gauge)
